My summer plans have been made. I was just accepted into the 2007 High School Fellowship Program at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory. The PPPL is a Department of Energy funded laboratory researching fusion energy. I’m going to be working with Dr. Rajesh Maingi, who I just so happen to know. He’s a neighbor of mine, who introduced me to the program, and has been enthusiastic about my applying. I’ve also done a bunch of things with him in the past, including setting up a haunted gazebo in his back yard for Halloween. The project he is being a mentor for (and the one I will now be working on) has something to do with calibrating infrared cameras, but I can’t remember the specifics. It starts once the school for schooled kids ends, which should be mid June, and goes for 8 weeks. More details as they make themselves known.
Congrats on getting accepted! Have loads of fun!
