On April 3rd, 2007, A 5 car trainset, the Alstom V150, screamed across the French country side at 574,8 km/h, shattering a previous record of 574,8 km/h set by the SNCF TGV Atlantique in 1990. The train had two power units and 3 passenger cars, providing a theoretical maximum of 19.6 MW (26,820 hp) of power. There’s a ridiculous video on the Alstom website of the test run.
