I almost don’t want to write about this because I feel stupid doing it, but it counts for English so what the heck.
It seems almost that America keeps falling into holes because of governmental failures, and in those holes lots of people get killed, almost needlessly, and it’s the governments fault. Once we get out of the holes we make a bunch of changes so we can prevent the problem from happening again. In my memory’s lifetime, (I say that because I can’t remember much before the age of ten.) first we had Sept. 11th where it was the government not enforcing security measures in airports, that let the terrorists get on planes with their weapons, and then could subsequently take control of the plane. Now we have hurricane Katrina. I was in Alaska not paying attention to the news right before the hurricane stuck but from what I can tell, people (especially FEMA) knew it would probably cause alot of damage, but they didn’t do much about it. I’m not saying they didn’t do anything but they didn’t do much. They knew all the poor people in New Orleans and every where else didn’t have a way to evacuate the city and they knew that those poor people wouldn’t have a place to go once they got out, but from what I’ve heard they didn’t even organize buses to take people out. Now I’m wondering what disaster will hit us in a couple of years. Maybe we will have an outbreak of deasise, or something else bad will happen that the government could have planned better for. I feel like I’m being hard on the government now though maybe I’m wrong about everything above, but that’s what I have heard from the radio and TV and the newspapers. Let me know what you think about that.
Cool, I got a good 30 minutes of English out of that. _
Is America's history full of "holes," or is our current government less capable of making good decisions and keeping on top of important things?
Hmmmm.
